Understanding the part of us called the “spirit” is important if we are to use it. Our spirit is simply our awareness or consciousness. It’s the part of us that is aware of things. It has been with us since we were kids, looking through our eyes. It has never really changed. Our personal self has changed, our physical body has changed, but our spirit, awareness or consciousness has been a constant presence witnessing all these changes. When you recognize this you can get a feel for moving from your self and into your spirit, safe and protected. It feels like peace, calmness and serenity. It feels like a quiet place of observation. The more we practice moving into our spirit the better we are able to respond rather than react.
